Keep Your Furry Friend Flea-Free!

Prevention is Key!

The best way to manage fleas is to prevent them from showing up in the first place. There are a few things that you can do to help lower your pet’s chance of getting fleas - first and foremost, make sure that they are up-to-date on their parasite preventative medication like Revolution or Advantage Multi. This will help to keep fleas away before they even have a chance to set up shop in your house. Also, if you spend time outside with your pet, it's important to check for ticks often - ticks can carry infections and diseases along with them, so being diligent about checking is key!

Treatment Options

It's possible that despite your best efforts at prevention, there may still be times when your cat gets fleas. In this case, there are several treatment options available. For smaller infestations, spot treatments like Frontline Plus or Advantage II may be enough to get rid of those pesky pests - just remember that these spot treatments need to be applied once per month (or as directed by your vet) for maximum effectiveness! If the infestation is more severe, oral medications such as Comfortis or Trifexis may be necessary - these options provide long lasting protection against fleas and other parasites as well.

Additionally, it's important to note that while treating your pet is an essential part of combating fleas, it isn't enough on its own. You'll also need to clean and vacuum any areas where your pet spends time regularly - this will help remove any eggs or larvae that could hatch out later on down the line. Additionally, washing bedding and toys regularly can also help keep those pesky critters at bay!

No one likes dealing with fleas - they're annoying for us humans and uncomfortable for our beloved pets. That said, with the right knowledge and products on hand, managing flea infestations doesn't have to be difficult or time consuming. By taking steps like keeping up on monthly preventatives and vacuuming regularly (along with treating active infestations), you should have no problem keeping those pesky critters away from your furry friend!  With a little bit of effort on our part (and some extra cuddles from our cats!), we can make sure that everyone stays happy and healthy all year round.
