How Big Can a Cat Get?

Size Varies Depending on Breed

The average size of an adult cat will depend largely on the breed. For example, Maine Coon cats are one of the largest breeds, with males typically weighing in at 12-18 pounds (5-8 kg) and females weighing in at 10-14 pounds (4-6 kg). On the other hand, Singapura cats tend to be one of the smaller breeds, with males weighing 4-7 pounds (2-3 kg) and females weighing 3-5 pounds (1-2 kg). Even within these two breeds there can be variation; some Maine Coon cats may weigh less than 8 pounds (3.6 kg), while some Singapura cats may weigh more than 7 pounds (3.2 kg).

Cats Also Grow in Height

Size isn't just about weight when it comes to adult cats; their height also varies depending on breed. The tallest cat breed tends to be the Savannah cat, which can reach up to 20 inches in height (51 cm). But even that isn't always consistent - some Savannahs may only grow up to 16 inches tall (40 cm), while others can reach heights of 24 inches or taller! On the other end of the spectrum, Toyger cats tend to be quite short - typically no more than 9 inches tall (23 cm) - but again this can vary depending on individual kitties and their parents' genetics.
